can't get in or out of gbawe
2009-10-05 02:38:08

Gbawe, a suburb of accra west is inhabited with near 500.000 people of which half of them have access to cars to go about their normal business. My problem is that we can't get in or out without being subjected to making a payment of 20 ghana pesewas which allows you to access a private pathway to get out or in the absence of that, put up with a two hour slow motion to go the wrong way for a quarter of a mile, and when you manage to turn the right direction hit another long traffic jam to heard towards accra. I am limiting my displeasure only to the inconvenience one has to undue everyday to leave or get into Gbawe.

Now let's to go back when one is hearding from Kasoa. You will have to drive past Mallam junction which is the intrance to Gbawe to Odorkor, a mile and a bit to turn round and to hit another 2 hour traffic before one can go back to Gbawe. Now if this is not mere incompetence or stupidity on the part of the authorities who drew the road plan construction, then I beg to differ. Some policemen make their daily bread from this junction because as human level of endurace wanes at some point one destined to make an illigal turn for these police men to make an easy money.
